HOW TO FAST: What fasting looks like
No matter how long you choose to fast-3, 5, 7 days, or more-the approach remains the same. Here are five key focus areas to guide you on your fasting journey. Note: Jumping straight into a cleanse from a typical Standard American Diet (SAD) can lead to uncomfortable detox symptoms and frustration, so pay special attention to Step 1!
1) PRE-GAME:
Preparation is crucial for a successful cleanse. Ideally, start 3–5 days before your fast:
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water to help your body flush out toxins in advance.
Transition: Begin shifting away from processed foods and incorporate more whole fruits and vegetables-aim for at least 75% of your intake to be fresh, ideally raw, produce.
Portion Control: Eat smaller meals and slow down your eating pace.
Gentle Movement: Add in light, non-strenuous exercise-daily walks are perfect.
2) MINDSET: Remember, fasting isn’t about deprivation-it’s about giving your body the freedom to heal and reset.
