Bite of the Week

Heirloom Caprese Salad including Westy’s house balsamic and garlic olive oil paired with Bloom Bakery’s Olive & Parmigiano Sourdough Focaccia. Use items 1-6 to complete a phoenominal meal while this weather is still hot! All you need to pick up is your own fresh mozzarella or our favorite, Burrata (buffalo mozzerella).

🍅 🌿 Heirloom Caprese Salad:

(Serves 4)

In addition to the Harvest Box items you will need: Fresh mozzerella or burratta, sea salt (Maldon’s Salt is the best but use what you have, can even be Kosher salt), freshly ground pepper.

Ingredients:

  • 1 focaccia bread

  • 2 large heirloom tomatoes

  • 8-12 ounces fresh mozzarella or burrata

  • 4 large handfuls of mixed greens

  • 1 cups fresh basil leaves

  • 1.5 tablespoon Westy’s garlic olive oil (.75 ounce)

  • 2 tablespoons Westy’s balsamic vinegar (1 ounce)

  • 1 teaspoons sea salt (Maldon preferred, or kosher)

  • Freshly ground black pepper

Method:

  • Toast the focaccia: Slice focaccia from the top into long, flat slices a little less than an inch thick. Toast in the oven at 325°F while you prep everything else — no need to preheat. They should look like biscotti when it comes to shape. Set a 10 min timer in case you forget to check in time, less than that if you would like your bread on the softer side.

  • Lay a bed of mixed greens: Whether you’re doing small plates or a large serving plate, put out the mixed greens, as much as you’d like. They are pre-washed, no need to wash and spin.

  • Slice the tomatoes: Cut the 4 heirloom tomatoes crosswise (not from stem to bottom) into slices about 1/2 inch thick. Arrange around serving plate, or divide onto individual plates, right on top of the lettuce.

  • Add the cheese: Slice or tear the 8 ounces fresh mozzarella or burrata and tuck pieces around the plate. If using burrata, place one large piece in the center for presentation — it will gently ooze out as it's cut into for serving.

  • Add the basil: Hand-tear the 1 cups fresh basil leaves from their stems and scatter around the plate. Tear larger leaves rather than cutting — cutting bruises the basil.

  • Drizzle garlic olive oil: Drizzle the 2 tablespoons garlic olive oil over the top (the whole container that came in the box)

  • Drizzle the balsamic: Drizzle the Westy’s balsamic over the top, after the oil — the order matters!

  • Finish and serve: Finish with sea salt (Maldon preferred, or kosher) and freshly ground black pepper to your preference. Serve alongside the toasted focaccia.

FAQ’s

WHAT IF I CAN’T PICK UP?

  • Option A — Delivery: Get your box delivered for an extra $15 fee. (If you live more than 8 miles from Westy’s — delivery fee may be slightly higher.) Please note: Items are perishable. Westy’s is not responsible for boxes left outside and not stored promptly. You will be notified when your box would arrive at your door on Saturday morning!

  • Option B — Send a Friend: Send a friend or neighbor to grab it for you! Just send us a text with your name and the name of the person picking up on your behalf. You can also gift your box to a friend if you’d like—just make sure they pick it up on time!

CANCELATIONS: A single box order cancellation can only be made within 24 hours of purchase. Unfortunately, Season Pass boxes cannot be refunded, as all curated goods are ordered for you in advance for us to maintain adequate fulfillment of everyone’s boxes.

WHAT IF I HAVE A SEASON PASS BUT HAVE TO SKIP SOME WEEKS? We would recommend you gift the box away if you can’t make it, to a family member or friend, if that’s not an option for you, go for the A La Carte option.
